Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a parent can make — particularly when it comes to safety, care, and a sense of belonging. In this parent interview, Alina, whose child is in Primary at Cambridge School of Bucharest, shares her perspective on what mattered most when selecting a school and why CSB continues to earn her trust. From safeguarding and emotional well-being to the everyday moments that help children flourish, Alina offers an honest and thoughtful insight into her family’s experience within the CSB community.
Q: As a parent, what mattered most when choosing a school?
For me it was very important to have my daughter attending a state-of-the-art school, such as CSB. Apart from the numerous recognitions and the academical success, I believe it is also good to have a child interact with different cultures since a young age, enlarging this way his/her horizons and build on that cosmopolitan culture. The good safety measure already in place tipped the scales too.
Q: How does CSB ensure children are safe?
Safe does not only refers to your surroundings, which are constantly monitored by the school, but also safe as in being able to express your emotions knowing you won’t be judged for it or reach out when in need. Again, I think CSB does a tremendous job when it comes to this topic.
Q: What about emotional well-being and care?
I can see how much my own daughter has grown and blossomed under the school’s thoughtful care and way of doing things – if before she started out as a shy little one, now her personality is slowly revealing : every day a little magic happens, whether it’s a trip with her colleagues, learning how to spell, or admitting something did not go quite as planned, so that can only make me think that she is showed a lot of understanding and compassion.
Q: How does CSB handle bullying or conflicts?
I think CSB’s proactive prevention policy, the trained staff, and the clear reporting channels help keep these incidents to a minimum. Having a system properly set up, with designated personnel responsible for this definitely helps out. And once the system is in place, if any reports are made, action is taken immediately and the protocol is applied. From my point of view, it is clear that there is zero tolerance for bullying, which is reassuring and comforting for a parent.
Q: Do parents feel involved in safeguarding?
I must say that I do, the regular events held for parents (parent meetings, Coffee Mornings, etc.) and the large variety of online courses available for safeguarding and online safety, do make me feel involved and aware of this topic.
Q: Why do you trust CSB with your child?
I think CSB empowers every child to reach their full potential by offering thorough educational/ emotional support, cultivating values, and at the same time allowing them to wonder along the way.
