House System
The House system is a cherished part of life at Cambridge School of Bucharest, reflecting an important tradition in British education. It fosters a strong sense of community and creates opportunities for students to connect with each other, work together, and develop important life skills.
Each student is assigned to their House upon enrollment, where they become an integral part of their team, building relationships across Primary and Secondary. The four Houses at CSB are named after notable figures who have made significant contributions to art, sport, and culture:
- Brancusi – Named after Constantin Brâncuși, a pioneering sculptor, painter, and photographer, who is known for revolutionizing modernism.
- Comaneci – Named after Nadia Comăneci, a five-time Olympic gold medalist, and the first gymnast to score a perfect 10 at the Montreal Olympic Games.
- Enescu – Named after George Enescu, a renowned composer, violinist, pianist, conductor, and teacher, regarded as Romania’s most important musician.
- Muller – Named after Herta Müller, a novelist, poet, and essayist who won the 2009 Nobel Prize in Literature.
Students in each House compete throughout the year to earn points for their House through various events and competitions. This friendly competition encourages collaboration, teamwork, and school spirit.
Our House system offers a wide range of events and competitions throughout the academic year, including:
- Speed sculpting
- Basketball shoots outs
- Poetry competitions
- Art competitions
- Chess tournaments, and more!
These events are selected and inspired by our House Leadership teams, which are made up of House Captains, Sports Captains, and Deputies from Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) and upper Key Stage 2 (Years 5 and 6). The House system provides students with the chance to develop leadership skills and foster a sense of responsibility.
Through participation in the House system, students learn valuable life lessons such as fair play, teamwork, citizenship, mutual responsibility, self-discipline, initiative, perseverance, community, and resilience. These values are integrated into both their academic and extracurricular experiences, enhancing their growth and learning throughout their time at CSB.
