Admissions Policy

This Admissions Policy sets out the requirements for entry to Cambridge School of Bucharest.

CSB accepts students throughout the academic year as long as an appropriate place is available and student candidates are able to meet our admissions requirements.

To begin the enrolment process, please complete the online enquiry form. Once completed, the CSB Admissions Team will be in contact to support and guide you through the admissions process.

Step 1: Make an Enquiry

To begin the admissions process, the applicant must submit the initial enquiry form through our website. A member of our Admissions Team will then meet with the child along with the parent/guardian through a video call to discuss information regarding the school’s curriculum, extra-curricular activities, our school’s facilities, the candidate’s educational background and goals, etc.

We aim to provide a friendly and informative service. We are very happy to offer information by telephone or email so please contact our Admissions Team using the contacts below. We accept admissions throughout the year.

Step 2: Arranging a Visit/School Tour

Nothing can replace a face-to-face visit and tour of our school – but when that isn’t possible you can take a virtual tour of our campus.

If you are interested in visiting the campus, please make an appointment by contacting us via email at [email protected].

Step 3: Interviews and Assessments

Students are assessed on an individual, case-by-case basis. CSB accepts students with all English capabilities from the ages of 3 years old to 10 years old.

Nursery – Year 2  will have a short interview with the Head of Year to evaluate their skills and knowledge in relation to the appropriate year group. It is expected that these students have the ability to take care of their personal needs, such as using the toilet and washing their hands.

Year 3-9 are required to complete an entrance assessment will consist of a standardised Cognitive Ability Test and review of a writing sample.

Years 10-11  will take a standardised Cognitive Ability Test and may be required to take additional written papers based on their subject choices. They will also have an interview with the Head of Secondary to determine if the school is the right fit for them.

Years 12-13 must have completed their IGCSE/GCSE exams with a minimum grade of C or higher in all subjects. If certificates are not available at the time of application, mock results will be considered. After submitting the certificates or mock results, students will have an interview with the Head of Secondary.

Assessment Fee

Assessments for Year 3 – Year 12 are held at a non-refundable charge of 250 RON.

Results from placement assessments

The Admissions Officer will notify the applicant’s parents of the outcome of the placement assessments via email.

The results of both the assessments and interviews will be taken into account when making a decision on whether the school’s entry requirements have been met.

Our school has a department for students with special needs or disabilities, but in some cases, we may not be able to provide the necessary support.

All entry assessments are kept strictly confidential and will not be shared as it would compromise the integrity of the assessment process.

Step 4: Application Forms and Documentation

If admission is granted, parents/guardians will be notified via an emailed acceptance letter. The school will then issue a Registration Fee invoice. In order to retain a place at CSB, the Registration Fee must be paid, and confirmation of payment must be sent to Parent Support within 5 days of receiving the acceptance letter.
Parents will then complete a second form and upload the following documents on the school’s platform:

  • Proof of age: A Birth Certificate or a true certified copy, for Romanian nationals. Birth Certificate translated into English or Romanian, Passport, and Residency Card (permis de sedere) for non-Romanian nationals, if applicable.
  • Copy of the Romanian ID for students 14 years of age and older.
  • The Identification Document of each Parent/Guardian who signs the contract. For non-Romanian nationals, the passport and residency permit, if applicable.
  • If the parents are divorced, the judicial decision related to the guardianship of the student in Romanian or English.
  • Immunisation Records or medical attestation of the student’s vaccination records and their dates from his/her doctor.
  • Student’s Previous School Transcripts or attestation for all previous years completed.

Please note that an incomplete enrolment application, or the discovery of false or incomplete information may jeopardise a child’s right to be registered at CSB.

Step 5: Starting School

Starting a new school is an exciting, and sometimes daunting, experience for students as well as parents. Our school of over 45 nationalities makes us a diverse and welcoming community where parents and children enjoy making new friends and forging new relationships. Our Admissions Team, School Administration, alongside our Heads of Year, will support each family to ensure that they are welcomed in the CSB Community and supported throughout this transition.

Waiting list

Prospective students may find themselves on a waiting list, if places within requested year groups are not available at the time of application.

While on the waiting list, families will be contacted regularly to ensure that they are still able to take up a place should one become available.
