High School

At Cambridge School of Bucharest, our high school aims to equip pupils with all of the skills necessary to complete their school careers successfully and to provide them with the final steps towards further education and the wider world. Our small class sizes and deep bench of subject specialists allow pupils to have personalised and focused support across a wide array of curricula.

Grade 9 and 10 pupils (aged 14-16) follow a broad, diverse, and stimulating curriculum in preparation for their International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams. Pupils will study core subjects—Mathematics, English (both Language and Literature), and Science (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry)—in addition to individual subject choices in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Modern Languages. The IGCSEs offer pupils a comprehensive set of skills and qualifications across their chosen subjects in preparation for Advanced Level study.

Grade 11 and 12 pupils (aged 16-18) continue their work from IGCSE subjects for their Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced (A) Level studies. These intensive fields of study prepare students with the knowledge and experience necessary for their studies at university. In addition to the academic requirements of A Level work, students are encouraged to develop a personal sense responsibility and self-discipline through completion of research and independent study. Upon completion of Advanced Level exams, our students have gone on to attend a host of diverse universities, both within the United Kingdom and without.  In order to gain admission to these top universities, our students are provided with preparation for an IELTS qualification in English proficiency in Grade 12.
