The Primary Art programme aims to give students an opportunity to explore a range of art materials. Control and confidence when using them will enable students to express ideas and to make individual responses to stimuli.

Artwork may be related to the unit of inquiry being taught in the class room and used to develop ideas, skills and perception as another tool for learning, understanding and expression.

Throughout the school, the student will use painting, sketching and clay, as well as having the opportunity to look at works of art and discuss them in context. The programme aims to develop the visual literacy of each student and to encourage informed and thoughtful responses. Each grade level will have a special emphasis on a particular medium to ensure its exploration in some depth.

Art may be taught both in the classroom and in the Art club Room by the Art teacher.
